A goal of mine this summer was to get out and shoot more indie bands in and around my city. Be it right here in Brooklyn, out in the city on everyone’s favorite island of Manhattan, New York City has so much to offer when it comes to independent music, underground concerts, musicians pursuing their dreams, and in this particular case…PIZZA!
I took the short trip last month for Pizzafest 2, a three-day concert held at a RECORD STORE — Human Head Records in Bushwick — and shot a few photos of The Rizzos, who are just one of the many indie bands performing on the King Pizza Records label.
The crowd was fervent and the passion was palpable, and after shooting into the dark at these musicians and extracting the light rays from of their performances, I came away with a little insight into a scene I had been unfamiliar with before.
